In doing a little research on ‘rounded corners’, I found lots of different techniques… here’s the quickest and simplest that I could find. Images are from Photoshop 7
Open the image in Photoshop
By default this opens as the ‘background’, we need to fix that
Right click on the Background layer and choose ‘Duplicate Layer’. Name the layer and click OK.
We won’t need the background now, you can delete it.
Create a new, empty layer by clicking on the ‘new’ icon in the layers pallet. Make sure it is selected (highlighted) like in the image above
Get the size of the image by clicking on Image > Image Size
Click on the ‘Rounded Rectangle’ tool and set the Radius. Here I’ve set it to 20px
Create a Rounded Rectangle by clicking and dragging on the surface. I usually create it the exact dimension of my image by looking at the ‘Info’ pallet and drawing to the image size
Drag the new Rounded Rectangle into position.
In the Layers palette, Double Click on the layer you just created. This will open up the Layer Style dialog box. In the advanced blending area, set the fill opacity to 0%.
In the Layers palette, select ‘Paths’. Right click on Shape 1 and choose ‘Make Selection’
Leave Feather Radius at 0, make sure that Anti-aliased is checked and click OK.
The area that we want is now highlighted
Click on Edit > Copy Merged to copy the image, click on File > New to create a new image. Leave the image size as it is. Click Edit > Paste in the new image to paste in your new image with rounded corners. All done.
